This manager is tasked with maximizing and advancing Business Notebook financial performance through the delivery and support of notebook programs. This involves driving product category strategy, leading cross-functional teams to deliver the right products at the right time and cost, ensuring production commitments are achieved, and maximizing financial performance for the business throughout the product lifecycle.

The Business Notebook System Management team leads program concept and RFQ enablement activities, followed by formal execution of the quote and award cycles. The System Manager is held accountable for developing program PORs that provide the appropriate balance between marketing requirements, organizational ability to execute, and business requirements.

The System Manager leads the cross-functional system team tasked with delivering the notebook program per the POR. While individual team members are responsible for contributions to the program from one or more functional groups, the System Manager is accountable to the executive team for managing and delivering the overall program within the defined scope, schedule, and cost. The position requires maintaining a business level focus while effectively and efficiently managing the team.

Once launched, the System Manager is responsible for monitoring factory performance, field quality, financial performance, competitive environment, etc. with the intent of maximizing the business performance of the product. Product or segment strategy updates will need to be driven as appropriate.

Key to the role is the System Manager's ability to utilize knowledge and experience in leading the system team and monitoring business performance. The System Manager utilizes experience to anticipate and proactively address program issues and challenges. The System Manager is expected to be able to resolve a majority of issues and diffuse situations in order to avoid unnecessary escalations to the executive staff.

Responsibilities

Manages and leads key programs involving multiple functions and program teams to drive the engineering development and implementation process for multiple products or service offerings for a Global Business Unit.
Directs the development of overall program strategy, budgets, resource allocation plans, and general program requirements for the Global Business Unit.
Manages activities of supporting program teams and internal and external development partners; ensures alignment with unit strategy and owns responsibility for overall program profit and loss management.
Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborates with business unit management and internal manufacturing and development partners to recommend and implement changes to products, processes, or business practices to drive continuous improvement and manage program costs.
Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the manufacturing engineering organization.
Reviews and evaluates program plans and guidelines for compliance with program management guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve overall program management quality and results for the organization.
Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of program management innovation and excellence

Qualifications
Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in marketing, engineering, or other computer related field. Twelve plus years minimum related experience with seven plus years management or program management experience. PMP certification strongly preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

A Senior Manager with seasoned business knowledge and in-depth experience in one or more aspects of the personal computer business
Demonstrated business acumen, understanding of organizational strategy, and successful experience managing all aspects of cross-business unit programs, including communicating with internal and external stakeholders and directing matrixed teams and resources.
Possesses and utilizes seasoned judgment to anticipate and effectively react to executive management activities and issues within the system team
Ability to utilize experience and judgment in all areas of program delivery and assist with all system team functions (i.e., determine what items need escalation to the executive staff, what items need to be fixed, watched more closely, waived, etc.)
Ability to effectively frame issues and status and communicate to the executive staff. Effective communicator to all levels of management.
Able to effectively facilitate, lead, and provide direction for a diverse group of individuals and functions in the system team meeting
Conflict resolution skills
Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills
